About the event

Full Moon Party
The Full Moon Party occurs every month on the evenings of the full moon, attracting thousands of partygoers from around the world.
Experience
Throughout the night, until sunrise, revelers enjoy:
Dancing to a variety of music genres, including electronic, techno, and reggae.
Wearing beach attire such as bathing suits and shorts, often complemented by fluorescent t-shirts.
Participating in body painting, adding a creative and colorful element to the festivities.
When is the Full Moon Party?
It’s synced to the lunar calendar. So every month on the night of the full moon, this unforgettable festival takes over with a party to remember. If you want to experience a mega-party, the best time to go is during peak seasons between July - August and December - April. There’s also an annual New Year’s celebration in Full Moon Party style!
We try to match up our Thailand group tours to coincide with Full Moon Parties.
Please note: Party dates are subject to slight change.

Where is the Full Moon Party?
On the party island of Koh Phangan, at Haad Rin Nok beach, there’s no better place for it! It’s large stretch of powder-like sand, fun shacks providing the drinks, and thriving beach clubs blaring out the beats; it’s a Full Moon Party paradise. The beach is also known as ‘Sunrise Beach’, so after you party hard through the night, you’ll find yourself mesmerised by the beauty of pink and gold hues lighting up Thailand’s morning sky. Is that not the best hangover cure?
Join a Thailand group tour and you’ll stay close to the action on Koh Phangan or just a short boat trip away on the stunning Koh Samui island! On both islands, you can soak up the atmosphere and not miss a single moment of this epic event.
How to get to Koh Phangan from Koh Samui
If you're staying on dreamy Koh Samui and want to experience the legendary Full Moon Party then you have two simple options:
The cheaper option is to board the ferry from Maenam, Bangrak or Big Buddha Pier to Koh Samui, then take a taxi to Haad Rin Nok Beach, where the Full Moon Party is. The ferries run fairly often but not throughout the night, so you can party till dawn before the first ferry back at 7 am.
Your other option is to book your own transfer via a private speedboat. The 30-40-minute journey takes you directly to Haad Rin beach. We recommend leaving at 19:00 or 20:00 (local time) to make the most of this iconic event! A returning ticket is open-timed and the speedboats run to Koh Samui every hour, starting from 1 am to 5 am, depending on the weather conditions.
What should I expect from a Full Moon Party?
Prepare for a night filled with buzzing music, from dance beats to RNB to techno. There are vibrant laser shows, fire shows, and acrobatic shows to keep you entertained throughout the night. Not to mention the 30,000+ like-minded travellers living it up on the sands of the beach with sand castle buckets filled to the brim with tropical cocktails. UV neon paint will be glowing underneath the moonlit sky as you dance the night away. It’s an electrifying experience that will leave you with memories and friendships to last a lifetime.
Top tips for a fun-filled night:
Wear suitable footwear
Most people go in trainers so they don’t cut themselves on broken glass in the sand. Avoid flip-flops at all costs!
Look after your belongings
A bumbag is your best friend. Only take what you really need. It’s best to take another form of ID and leave your passport at the hotel or hostel.
Cash is key
It’s the best way to budget and avoid losing your card. There’s a small entrance fee which is usually 100-200 baht (approx £2-5). It can cost more during peak seasons. The fee is collected at the entrance where you’ll receive a wristband. It’s a bargain for this legendary party.
Paint it up!
Take your own face paint to decorate yourself in true Full Moon style! Sharing is caring - get the whole squad looking good.
Stay safe
Stick with your group and avoid doing dangerous activities - fire skipping and drugs are big no-nos.
Drinks
You’ll see sand castle buckets everywhere! They’re super cheap, super effective, and great to share with your mates. Remember to pace yourself, this party lasts all night long.
Enjoy yourself
There’s no other party like Thailand’s Full Moon Party. Go enjoy every second of it!
